Sugarcane decided to lower their sights a bit when it came to taking part in the Grand Depart festivities. The original plan of riding the York to Sheffield stage of the tour in it’s entirety were quickly downgraded when it became apparent that ‘certain peoples’ fitness regimes’ weren’t cutting the mustard.
A time trial of daredevil descending was quickly pencilled in as a suitable alternative. A scramble for a suitable machine resulted in bikes of all shapes and sizes being put forward and tried and tested. The ‘steeds’ were finally chosen for the downhill test and both riders went for added security of the stablisers to negotiate the tricky first hairpin. With like for like machinery it would be down to ballast, skill and a touch of daring to claim the downhill crown.
